Wildfires
2003 we escaped the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire - 283 houses didn't! After the fire, the public opinion was: THAT COULD NEVER HAPPEN ON THE WESTSIDE!
Voila - here we are:
Fortunately it rained on Thursday, after an immense cloud was building up from the 400ha Terrace Fire. See this picture from Wednesday evening above Blue Grouse Mountain, taken from across the lake.

The rain helped control the Glenrosa Fire and the Rose Valley Fire; it did work well for the Terrace Mountain Fire as well, but this is still growing - despite the rain fall - 2000 residents had been ordered to leave their homes, while 10 000 from West Kelowna were allowed to return to their homes.
