Your gear should always be in good shape. If you use your nice Prime Lenses quite often switching between them, you soon will recognize spots on your images resulting from dust , which made its way onto the sensor surface. Image sensors in modern DSLRs have a surface, that is resistant to dust clinging on it, but it just happens, with Dust Reduction System or without. Do not panic, you can help yourself - it is easier than you think, and not as time consuming as cleaning your images in Paintshop Pro or Photoshop.
